Rigth of Naming

When your child is born alive it is given an official first name and a surname which is held down in the certificate of birth.

If your child is born dead it is given an official first name which is recorded in the document for stillborn babies (since 09/1999).

If your child weighs less than 500g, i.e. has been miscarried, it is neither named nor registered.

In order to provide your stillborn or miscarried child with an identity of its own we urgently recommend you to give it a name. It facilitates talking about as well as remembering your baby.
